Our commentary this week focused on the passing of Blues Music Legend KoKo Taylor, what is REALLY important folks should get out of Jay-Z's "D.O.A. (Death of Autotune)" track, 21st Century economic class issues in the Black Community and some other things here and there.

This week, we had a great interview with independent Hip-Hop artist on the rise Swazy Styles (http://www.myspace.com/swazystyles).

Some of the topics we covered with this talented MC included his foundation growing up and getting into the music industry in New York City before moving to Florida, the difference between the NY & FL music scenes, the overall grind a successful independent artist needs to make to have a solid foundation, his upcoming mixtape & album projects, how staying grounded is a great thing overall in life, much less entertainment and more!

Podcast Summary

The syndicated FuseBox Radio Broadcast was founded by DJ Fusion (aka Mary Nichols) while she was still an undergraduate student at the Rutgers University - New Brunswick campus in 1998.

Along with co-host and business partner Jon Judah (who became part of the permanent staff in late 2003), the radio show has a strong focus on bringing a diverse mixture of Hip-Hop & Soul music (and Black Music in general) from all over the world to our listeners along with interviewing guests and bringing news to the multi-faceted Hip-Hop community.

The mission of the FuseBox Radio Broadcast since its beginnings when I was an undergraduate student at Rutgers University in 1998 has been to bring diverse Hip-Hop & Soul Music (and just Black Music in general - reggae, funk, jazz, disco, etc.) to the masses as well as quality commentary and interviews to our radio listeners, especially in this age of overall mulitiple "cookie cutter" and poorly overly corporate run radio stations (not all stations, mind you, but a lot). I am a radio mixshow DJ in my late 20s who also spins on various mixtapes and does various club and lounge events.
